Knights (1993)
Albert Pyun.
In the future, a kickboxer and a robot lead a revolution against ruling cyborgs. -IMDB
Kris Kristoffersen is in it. Its fine if a bit oddly earnest at moments.

#11 Murder to the Tune of Seven Black Notes (1977)
aka The Psychic, aka Seven Notes in Black.
A clairvoyant woman discovers a skeleton in a wall in her husband’s house, and seeks to find the truth about what happened to the victim. – IMDB
It’s fine. Its a pretty standard giallo for the era. A bit too dry, a bit long winded, but it ticks all the boxes.

#12 Nightmare City (1980)
Italian. 1980.
An airplane exposed to radiation lands, and blood drinking zombies emerge armed with knives, guns and teeth! They go on a rampage slicing, dicing, and biting their way across the Italian countryside. –IMDB
8 and a half minutes in and a plane lands and…yep, exactly as stated above. There’s a few story lines weaving around the zombie – irradiated blood-drinking ghoul – attacks. Its fine. The zombies look like wolfmen who have suffered chemical burns. Its pretty relentless at moments. This is fast moving and tool using zombies. Essentially maniacs.

#10 Burial Ground: The Nights of Terror (1981)
Burial Ground aka Night of Terror. Was also released as Zombie 3.
An archaeology professor discovers an ancient crypt which contains living dead corpses. The zombies go on a rampage and attack a group of people which the professor had invited to celebrate his discovery. – IMDB
An essentially pointless story leads to Fulci-like zombies and gore. Its fine. Theres a weird small man playing a child in this film.

#9 Premutos: The Fallen Angel (1997)

German Horror-Comedy from 1997. That cant be good.
Premutos is the first of the fallen Angels, even before Lucifer. His Goal is to rule the world, the living and the dead. His son paves the way for him and appears arbitrarily throughout human history and is then recognized as some kind of monster. In the present time, a young man living in Germany begins to suffer from visionary flashbacks–of the lives he lived in the past as Premutos’ son. He remembers how he appeared in the Middle Ages when mankind suffered from pestilence, and during WWII in Russia. On his (earthly) father’s birthday, a case containing a strange old book and a yellow potion is found in their garden, which was hidden by some peasant in 1943, who experimented with witchery in order to re-animate his deceased wife. Whe the young man gets in touch with the book and some of the yellow potion, he mutates into a monster and awakens an army of zombies, ready to bring back the fallen Angel Premutos and to disturb the little birthday party. – IMDB
I’m not going to try and explain it. It starts with a narrator over the intro credits explaining who Premutos is? Or something. And the very first scene is a persons head getting cut off with one large spurt of blood. A fantastic few scenes as a skelleton rises from the ground and starts to form back into a living human.
More convoluted narration. They really drag out every scene, it is extremely slow going, despite the cool gore effects. And thats the best part, the gore effects. They are awesome, and happen pretty steadily through the whole film. And more convoluted narration
It is slow as hell. The comedy isn’t funny. It’s some how also boring? But the gore effects are fucking great. Some real stand out insane scenes. 3 stars for the effects alone.

#7 City of the Living Dead (1980)
City of the Living Dead. Crazy stuff. Seems like its going to be a stuffy thriller film, and it kinda is for the most part, but then the zombies turn up. Its enjoyable enough. Some real legendary gross-out moments.
A reporter and a psychic race to close the Gates of Hell after the suicide of a clergyman caused them to open, allowing the dead to rise from their graves.

#8 Motel Hell (1980)
Its a little bit Texas Chainsaw with the creepy family, but it does its own thing, has some (black?) comedic moments and is a lot better than I was expecting.
A seemingly friendly farmer and his sister kidnap unsuspecting travelers and bury them alive, using them to create the “special meat” they are famous for. – IMDB

#5 Bewitched (1981)
Hong Kong Supernatural Horror. Lots of strange mystical stuff and buddhist magic, and some really confronting gore (a few real what the fuck am I looking at scenes).
While possessed by an evil spirit, a man murders his daughter. A police detective investigating the case also becomes possessed. A good monk helps fight the evil spirit. – IMDB
For all the eye catching moments, it often feels really slow, but I think its worth a watch for some real fucking strange scenes, bizarre special effects and some actually gross gore.

#6 The Boxers Omen (1983)
This is the sequel to Bewitched (1981).
While in Thailand to avenge his brother who was crippled in a fight with a corrupt Thai boxer, a man gets caught up in a web of fate, Buddhism and black magic. – IMDB
Starts off with some kickboxing and a more conventional Hong Kong/Shaw Brothers premise. And there’s a ghost of a Buddhist monk with water spraying out of it. We are straight back into the weirdness. Weirder, even.
If you liked Bewitched (1981) you will like this.

#3 Hiruko the Goblin (1991)
Strange. Confusing. Weird inconsistent tones, is it a young adult film, a comedy, serious, not serious?
Then someone get turned into a fountain of blood.
Huh, a music interlude…
Holy shit its a fucking spider-head!
It is really entertaining. 100% recommend.
A school was built on one of the Gates of Hell, behind which hordes of demons await the moment they will be free to roam the Earth. Hiruko is a goblin sent to Earth on a reconnaissance mission. He beheads students in order to assemble their heads on the demons’ spider-like bodies. Hieda, an archaeology professor, and Masao, a haunted student, investigate the gory deaths and eventually battle Hiruko. – TMDB

#4 Neon Maniacs (1986)
“When the world is ruled by violence. And the soul of mankind fades. The children’s path shall be darkened. By the shadows of the Neon Maniacs”
This feels like it has an Italian director.
It’s a standard slasher story. But its cheesy as shit because Italian Director. kind of that weird feeling Troll 2 has. Oh, and instead of one weird killer its a bunch of weird killers. Theres a samurai guy, a goblin with a crossbow, a reptilian thing with sharp teeth, an undead biker, a Hills have Eyes dude, a caveman!?…
There is no reason or explanation given for anything.

A caveman bounces on the roof of a van, while a samurai? and a clay dude? smash in the windscreen.
#1 Bloody Muscle Butcher From Hell (1991)
Trapped inside a haunted house, a body builder must save himself from a gruesome ghost hell-bent on revenge.
This is not B or Z-grade, this is just low budget and a sincere attempt to make an independent film within certain restrictions. And it’s great. The initial exposition is a bit slow but at a total length of one hour it soon gets to the crazy haunted house. Despite the obvious similarities to Evil Dead, this definitely has enough of its own originality and inventiveness. Really awesome.

Its online at Archive.org and Tubi

#Number
Six high school seniors embark on a camping trip but are suddenly ambushed by murderous hillbillys who sell the remains of their victims to a local fast food restaurant.
That’s about it. The laughs aren’t funny. All the characters are off-putting, they seem to be trying to do an unhinged Texas Chain Saw Massacre sequel thing. It feels gross to watch.

I kinda missed doing it last year, and I was actually on leave all October.
This year I’m just going to do as many as I can, not strictly one each day, not however many per week, just as many as I can bash out. If I don’t get to 31, too bad.
I have about 10 films already so there still should be a few.
So far the lists is:
Longlegs 2024
late night with the devil 2023
The Church

i saw the TV glow 204
videodrome 1983
nightmare city 1980
Burial Ground 1981
Angst 1983

Bloody Muscle Body Builder in Hell 1995
il marchio di satana 1975
Lets see how many I get through.
Alien Abduction: Incident in Lake County (1998)
Also known as The McPherson Tape. Haven’t seen this fully in a while. I love this film. An early found footage type film, I’ve heard people have problems with it but they are obviously morons. Its fantastic. 3.5

Biotherapy (1985)
A really fucked up Japanese gore film. IMDB says this is “about a group of Japanese scientists getting stalked and viciously butchered by a creepy-looking alien who’s wearing a trench-coat.” and I’m just going to agree with that as the subtitles sucked and its a very confusing and rather B-grade film. But its only 35mins so its fast at least. The gore is where the budget went and is really effective and gross. A 2 is kind of stretching it but then I’m also adding a .5 for the gore. 2.5
