Pine Darts & Shixi & Turtle Dove

Pine Darts 2025 from W2T

Smoked pine needles and pine forest soil, smoke, smoked rubber? smoked leather? a kind of citrusy and green pine needle tartness happens. Interesting stuff. Very little if any bitterness. Very nice.

2024 Shixi from W2T

Very dense and compacted cake. Earthy, coffee grounds, wood, old hardwood, a mild rounded bitterness, a nice coolness lingers.

Albert Pyun.

In the future, a kickboxer and a robot lead a revolution against ruling cyborgs. -IMDB

Kris Kristoffersen is in it. Its fine if a bit oddly earnest at moments.

aka The Psychic, aka Seven Notes in Black.

A clairvoyant woman discovers a skeleton in a wall in her husband’s house, and seeks to find the truth about what happened to the victim. IMDB

It’s fine. Its a pretty standard giallo for the era. A bit too dry, a bit long winded, but it ticks all the boxes.

Italian. 1980.

An airplane exposed to radiation lands, and blood drinking zombies emerge armed with knives, guns and teeth! They go on a rampage slicing, dicing, and biting their way across the Italian countryside.IMDB

8 and a half minutes in and a plane lands and…yep, exactly as stated above. There’s a few story lines weaving around the zombie – irradiated blood-drinking ghoul – attacks. Its fine. The zombies look like wolfmen who have suffered chemical burns. Its pretty relentless at moments. This is fast moving and tool using zombies. Essentially maniacs.

Burial Ground aka Night of Terror. Was also released as Zombie 3.

An archaeology professor discovers an ancient crypt which contains living dead corpses. The zombies go on a rampage and attack a group of people which the professor had invited to celebrate his discovery. – IMDB

An essentially pointless story leads to Fulci-like zombies and gore. Its fine. Theres a weird small man playing a child in this film.

German Horror-Comedy from 1997. That cant be good.

Premutos is the first of the fallen Angels, even before Lucifer. His Goal is to rule the world, the living and the dead. His son paves the way for him and appears arbitrarily throughout human history and is then recognized as some kind of monster. In the present time, a young man living in Germany begins to suffer from visionary flashbacks–of the lives he lived in the past as Premutos’ son. He remembers how he appeared in the Middle Ages when mankind suffered from pestilence, and during WWII in Russia. On his (earthly) father’s birthday, a case containing a strange old book and a yellow potion is found in their garden, which was hidden by some peasant in 1943, who experimented with witchery in order to re-animate his deceased wife. Whe the young man gets in touch with the book and some of the yellow potion, he mutates into a monster and awakens an army of zombies, ready to bring back the fallen Angel Premutos and to disturb the little birthday party. – IMDB

I’m not going to try and explain it. It starts with a narrator over the intro credits explaining who Premutos is? Or something. And the very first scene is a persons head getting cut off with one large spurt of blood. A fantastic few scenes as a skelleton rises from the ground and starts to form back into a living human.

More convoluted narration. They really drag out every scene, it is extremely slow going, despite the cool gore effects. And thats the best part, the gore effects. They are awesome, and happen pretty steadily through the whole film. And more convoluted narration

It is slow as hell. The comedy isn’t funny. It’s some how also boring? But the gore effects are fucking great. Some real stand out insane scenes. 3 stars for the effects alone.

City of the Living Dead. Crazy stuff. Seems like its going to be a stuffy thriller film, and it kinda is for the most part, but then the zombies turn up. Its enjoyable enough. Some real legendary gross-out moments.

A reporter and a psychic race to close the Gates of Hell after the suicide of a clergyman caused them to open, allowing the dead to rise from their graves.

Its a little bit Texas Chainsaw with the creepy family, but it does its own thing, has some (black?) comedic moments and is a lot better than I was expecting.

A seemingly friendly farmer and his sister kidnap unsuspecting travelers and bury them alive, using them to create the “special meat” they are famous for. – IMDB

Hong Kong Supernatural Horror. Lots of strange mystical stuff and buddhist magic, and some really confronting gore (a few real what the fuck am I looking at scenes).

While possessed by an evil spirit, a man murders his daughter. A police detective investigating the case also becomes possessed. A good monk helps fight the evil spirit.IMDB

For all the eye catching moments, it often feels really slow, but I think its worth a watch for some real fucking strange scenes, bizarre special effects and some actually gross gore.

This is the sequel to Bewitched (1981).

While in Thailand to avenge his brother who was crippled in a fight with a corrupt Thai boxer, a man gets caught up in a web of fate, Buddhism and black magic.IMDB

Starts off with some kickboxing and a more conventional Hong Kong/Shaw Brothers premise. And there’s a ghost of a Buddhist monk with water spraying out of it. We are straight back into the weirdness. Weirder, even.

If you liked Bewitched (1981) you will like this.
