The Beyond is Lucio Fulci, enough said. The Bogey Man is a supernatural slasher with a few strange ideas. Blood Feast, “the first splatter film”, is a dodgy weird old classic. Bloody Moon is slow and uneventful.

All Italian films except Axe (US). Antropophagus definitely has the best music/soundtrack. A Bay of Blood is obviously the best of these four films over all, a Mario Bava classic. Absurd is a fairly standard slasher, Axe is similar.
I usually go to Bun MI in Subiaco because its cheap and really good. Their Crispy Pork Belly Banh Mi is really crispy, and the greens and pickles they add are a really good mix. The Chili is hot and the pate is noticeable.
Today I tried Baguette Me Not down the road. Twice the price, the meat is as you can see below a awesome big portion, well cooked. Didn’t think I could detect any pate or pickles and the greens weren’t anything special. It was good, don’t get me wrong. Except, they add Kewpie Japanese mayo for some reason. Just bizarre and possibly why other flavours were obscured. I will go and try them again, but now I know I will definitely ask for no mayo!
This is really damn good gin (The West Winds Sabre). Really nice, aromatic, big juniper, citrus peel, botanical, smooth yet dry drinking with bright flavours. Dolin is classic dry white vermouth, very fruity, but not extremely dry.
The orange bitters are OK, a little less depth than Angostura, but it added a nice dimension.
All combined, for a martini, this would have worked better with a less characterful gin, or a dryer simpler vermouth.
More cider softdrink. These are all pretty good. The Japanese/Korean idea of cider here is like common lemonade softdrink – its a thing that doesn’t taste like apples, its fizzy, its clear. They all taste relatively the same, though. The white peach and mango ones (Tomomasu Inryo brand) were a lot better than the plain (Mitsuya, Asahi brand), nice fruity flavors.
The Kirin milk coffee was interesting, it was kind of funky, “farmy”?, surprisingly rich, it had cream as an ingredient. Nice coffee flavour.
The milk tea (also Kirin brand) was nice and sweet with a good black tea flavour.
The prawn and wasabi rice crackers were ok, real big prawn stink but not too much wasabi heat.

Local brewery made a Farmhouse ale? …it tastes pretty legit.
Bright Tank – Le’Myrtle Farmhouse ale, 7.5%ABV 375ml can.
This actually tastes farmhouse, this seems def made with bugs, which is really fucking cool. Wish there was more info on how this was made. It has Lemon Myrtle I guess, also says it has Citra hops. The hopping for the end result is “balanced” enough at least. It definitely has a lemony taste, but the yeast/bugs is the big thing here as far as character, and as above, not enough info on that. Has a slight viscosity, maybe thats a brett/pedio thing? This is good, could go a little lower on the malt bill and lower on the ABV, bigger on the myrtle and create some breathing room for the yeast/bugs. Its good tho, and seriously happy a local is doing the farmhouse.
Well its 13.5% and its soju, so probably not…

Well, it contains Enzyme, so that’s gotta be good!
Its…not actually bad. The “cherry” really takes the edge of the soju. Its still there, but its not too bad at all. A lot milder than any similar drink with vodka. A damn lot milder than the similar (shochu) 9% Suntory Strong Zero. Considering the ABV and its only 360ml its actually dangerously drinkable. Seems to be a lot of other flavors out there (and brands) so will def be trying more.
Not so great. Not bad, but a bit much.
First melon patterned one was nice and like a Korean non-alcoholic cider. The bigger one was very melon, like rind and all in smell and taste, and a bit too much.
1) Klosterbrauerei Weissenohe – Weißenoher Eucharius Pils, 4.9% 500ml bottle.
A decent German pils, bit light on the malts, some nice pils style bitterness and good carbonation. A little old (BB 21/04/21) and probably not kept well, but its good.
2) Bayreuther Bierbrauerei – Original Landbier Zwick’l, Kellerbier / Zwickelbier, 5.3%, 500ml bottle.
Not much carbonation, it feels/tastes like a British session bitter. Kind of bready malts kind of biscuity in the aroma and taste, slightly medicinal but nice bitterness. I’m sure this isn’t at best quality but its not bad.
3) Rocky Ridge Brewing – Socks and Sandals ESB, 6%, 375ml can.
This is a hop bomb, its definitely a lot of UK hops giving that earthy “soil” thing. Its good? Its a big IPA I guess. Smells like mangoes and soil. Makes me think it used a Kveik yeast really.
4) Slow Lane Brewing – Thirsty Miner, Grisette Pale Belgian Ale, 3.8% 375ml can
This is OK, it does have hops, which I thought the point of a grisette was to not have hops. It also uses some amount of wheat, which I guess added to its light and drinkable character. No idea where the Belgian comes into it, maybe the yeast? Very drinkable at least.
5) Alesmith – 398 San Diego Style Pale Ale, 6%, 354ml can.
Another pale ale. This is a lot more malty, lots of toasty and bready malts, nice mild bitterness. This is more toward a British pale ale. Nice.
6) Molly Rose Brewing – Resolved, Saison, 5.8%, 355ml can.
This was lemony. probably the hops. A modern Saison, light beer with a citrus note. Not bad but wasn’t as great as previous beers I have had from them.
7) Boat Rocker – Dank & Bitter, IPA, 6.1% 375ml can.
This could be a lot more dank, its definitely bitter. A nice IPA.
