Its everything I expected.
I have smelled durian before so I had an Idea of its basic taste. It was still very insane and potent.
If Surströmming is 10 this was maybe 6. Not as existential PTSD but still bad.
That being said I would try it as the actual fruit, and there was a nice taste in there, amongst the insane scent.
Mochi
This was great. It had real cream inside. the green tea paste was nice and the mochi was soft and not insanely stretchy
These sucked
The peri peri was light taste and light heat, the more weirder flavor was once again mostly sour cream and chive with something added that doesn’t do much, in this case chicken.
Drasko’s Hot Chicken
This was really good. Their Signature “sando”. Nashville Hot Chicken style, really crunchy deep fried coating, dipped or covered some how in a cayenne hot sauce, salty vinegary, mild heat (I chose medium). Well cooked chicken, not dry at all. Vinegary coleslaw, nice crunchy pickles. Only issue is its pricey. Also the bun should have been toasted. Will eat it again.

Banh Mi – Baguette Me Not
I usually go to Bun MI in Subiaco because its cheap and really good. Their Crispy Pork Belly Banh Mi is really crispy, and the greens and pickles they add are a really good mix. The Chili is hot and the pate is noticeable.
Today I tried Baguette Me Not down the road. Twice the price, the meat is as you can see below a awesome big portion, well cooked. Didn’t think I could detect any pate or pickles and the greens weren’t anything special. It was good, don’t get me wrong. Except, they add Kewpie Japanese mayo for some reason. Just bizarre and possibly why other flavours were obscured. I will go and try them again, but now I know I will definitely ask for no mayo!

More drinks from Japan (and some rice crackers)
More cider softdrink. These are all pretty good. The Japanese/Korean idea of cider here is like common lemonade softdrink – its a thing that doesn’t taste like apples, its fizzy, its clear. They all taste relatively the same, though. The white peach and mango ones (Tomomasu Inryo brand) were a lot better than the plain (Mitsuya, Asahi brand), nice fruity flavors.
The Kirin milk coffee was interesting, it was kind of funky, “farmy”?, surprisingly rich, it had cream as an ingredient. Nice coffee flavour.
The milk tea (also Kirin brand) was nice and sweet with a good black tea flavour.
The prawn and wasabi rice crackers were ok, real big prawn stink but not too much wasabi heat.
Squid Floss, Lemon Flavour

2 kinds of Natto
Purchased some Natto and choose two different kinds which I hadn’t seen before. I was aware fermentation was slightly different from brand to brand to some extent, but this was colour, and on opening also size.
The brand is Azuma Shokuhin.
The dark natto is just normal, I cannot find any info of it being different to plain normal natto, and thats what it looks like. Size is Small = Kotsubu.
The light coloured one is Hikiwari Natto, Crushed natto. Evident on opening.
The light coloured crushed natto is a little sharper with less depth of flavour.
The dark natto is milder but deeper flavoured, and smaller beans than i normally get. Seems a lot more slimier also.
