Some NYE Beers

Inland Market & Running with Thieves – Can of Beer Pilsner. This would be really good if it was far more carbonated. Hops come through too strong without it. I think this was canned in August

Deeds Brewing – Deeds Draught. Over a year old! Pretty flat, slightly metallic, stored poorly, not great! A lesson in always checking packaged/BB dates on cans!

Garage Project – Bliss Lager. from the BB this is about 6 months old. I have had this before and fresher. The difference isn’t much. A good beer.

Beer Farm – West Coast Lager. This is about 2 months old, and again I have had this before. Good standard Lager with non standard hops.

Innate Brewing – Pale As Bro Kiwi Hazy IPA. Not pictured. Kiwi would be referring the hops, but they aren’t listed by name. Canned October, so 2 months old. Very fruity, but low carbonation for some reason. Would be excellent with more carb, but holy hell, the fruit in these hops in this beer, is fantastic.

Rocky Ridge – Tropicale Tropical Beer. Its a hazy, named Tropical Beer as its style. 3.7%?. I wonder if they messed something up and just released it because it was good, like the Sour White Stout from way back in the day. Its good, its a hazy style beer.

Innate Brewing – Heirloom Czech Pilsner. Its nice, a bit too hoppy, and again I think this is non-standard hops but they work enough. Again lacking in carb. No date on this, but Its nice. Heirloom seems to be some series.

Black Hops – East Coast Low Hazy IPA. Had this a few times and its a great. Real nice hazy IPA.

Einsiedler Bock Hell

Einsiedler Brauhaus – Bock Hell, 500ml bottle, 6.8%.
Darker Amber, very clear, light tan/straw very fluffy and lasting thin head. Slightly sweet malts on the nose, lager yeast notes, some darker roast notes. Sweet malts muted by a nice bitterness, a hint of alcohol with herbal almost medicinal notes, some lager yeast elements. Smooth, mild carbonation.

Some More German Beers (Late-Toberfest 2)

Hofbrau – Oktoberfestbier
Hacker Pschorr – Kellerbier Naturtrub
Weltenburger Kloster – Plis

Weltenburger Kloster – Pils, 4.9%, 500ml bottle.
Klosterbrauerei Weltenburg, this is a German Pilsner, the smell is sweet and kind of wheat-beer-ish, lager yeast smells. Its very clear, light golden-straw in colour with a big head on pouring. This is quite bitter, and almost spicy, could be the yeast. Apart from that it is very easy drinking. Good, not great.

Hacker Pschorr – Kellerbier Naturtrub, 5.5%, 500ml bottle.
A German Lager/Kellerbier/Zwickelbier, an unfiltered beer and it shows. Nice golden amber colour, quite cloudy, a nice head. Aroma is biscuit malts and lager yeast. Taste is very nice very biscuity malt, a mild bitterness balancing out a very mild sweetness. Well balanced, the malt character is very nice.

Hofbrau – Oktoberfestbier, 6.3%, 500ml bottle.
Hofbräuhaus München. A Germen Lager/Marzen/Oktoberfestbier. Golden amber, very clear, nice head with good lacing. The smell is very lager yeast, not very funky though. Taste is bready and lightly sweet malts, theres a nice lager yeast character balanced with the mild hop bitterness, slightly spicy. Very good.

Some German Beers (Late-ToberFest)

Spaten – Oktoberfest , Lager/Marzen
Augustiner-Brau – Edelstoff, Lager/Dortmunder Export
Paulaner – Oktoberfest Bier, Lager/Marzen/Oktoberfest

Spaten – Oktoberfest, 5.9%, 500ml bottle.
Spaten-Franziskaner-Bräu is the brewery. Its a Lager-Marzen-Oktoberfst beer. Its a nice golden lager colour, a nice malty and lager yeast smell, nice head too. Nice back of the tongue bitterness, lager yeast characters are prominent, some mild malt characters, a sweet malt balanced with the bitter hops, some very slight toasty malt flavors in there as well, nothing is overbearing, its all well balanced.

Augustiner – Edelstoff, 5.7%, 500ml bottle.
Augustiner-Bräu. A Lager – European / Dortmunder Export. Lovely head, big lasting, good lager yeast smell, kind of minerally. Taste is light malt in there its noticeable, but its so mild, there’s hops and a nice bitterness but it doesn’t linger, This i have had before, and it is just so clean and crisp and drinkable. The hops and malt are just so balanced and crisp. An awesome beer.

Paulaner -Oktoberfest Bier, 5.8%, 500ml bottle.
Paulaner Brauerei, this is another Lager-Marzen Oktoberfest. Less head, more golden amber colour, sweeter smell. Taste is a bit more bitterness, some sweet malts. This is a lot like the Spaten, with slightly more malt, sweet malts mainly, and a little more hops bitterness, but also this has the mineral aspects of the above Augustiner. Its just good.

Strange film. Oddly funny, oddly dark. 3 stars.

Bonus – She Never Died (2019)

This 2019 “sequel” is basically a riff on the original story wise.

The movie is intended as a follow up sister sequel to Krawczyk’s 2015 movie He Never Died, which starred Henry Rollins, and is set within the same universe. Krawczyk had initially intended the 2015 film to be expanded into a miniseries and follow-up film, but repurposed the script into She Never Died after the endeavor was cancelled. Wikipedia

This, like the original, was also good, it did feel a bit more like an extended episode 1 of a TV series, and ends in a way that is open for a sequel at least. 3 stars again.

Its a moderate slasher film with too much character development. There’s some interesting gore effects. It is OK.
2 stars.

As above but made in 1978, far less character development, poorer acting. Stars Cameron Mitchell which is a bonus. 2 stars.

Halloween Horror #28

#28 – The Entity (1982)

The Entity is a 1982 American supernatural horror film directed by Sidney J. Furie, and written by Frank De Felitta, who adapted his 1978 novel of the same name. The film stars Barbara Hershey as a single mother in Los Angeles who is raped and tormented by an invisible assailant. Wikipedia

A really good film. Its played straight and dry and that is effective. Has an Exorcist feel due to its straightness and then a Poltergeist kind of vibe toward the end. It gets pretty crazy. 3 stars.
